An orphaned pig is adopted by a farmer and they become good 'friends'. Babe doesn't like just being a pig and enjoys rounding up the sheep as if he were a dog, in a film where all the animals can talk to each other which is what the film is really all about - being cute.

The effects are impressive and you begin to believe that the animals are actually talking, but there is a plot in there somewhere. While sheep are mysteriously going missing from the farm, we have an old dog developing a bad attitude, we get a miserable cat, a charismatic duck, and loads of other characters who are introduced to us one at a time (not forgetting the singing mice).

This film was overrated to be honest, but still enjoyable. It is really the same thing all the way through and that is trying to make the audience fall in love with the cute animals. Although all children will enjoy it, so will adults. It's a nice little tale about a nice little pig on a nice little farm, but you know right from the beginning what to expect so you know whether you'll enjoy it before you see it.
