It is hard to describe the plot of Crash, since there isn't really one. A bunch of people are sexually aroused by car crashes and accidents, and set out to have the ultimate experience. The main couple (Spader and Arquette) have an open relationship where they tell each other about who they've had sex with that day. They also both want to experience a car crash, and Spader actually does. He ends up in the hospital, where he meets Helen (Holly Hunter), whose husband just died in the car accident with Spader. They start talking, have sex, and start exploring their strange feelings about wreckage and crashes.

During the film they do various things together, one of which is witnessing some men recreate a famous car crash, which is viewed by a paying audience. They also have gatherings where they all watch videos of crashes whilst 'rubbing' each other. In fact, the film doesn't really go anywhere, it's just about people with perverse 'turn-ons', who just try and have car crashes or watch accidents.

To say whether Crash is good or not is a difficult task. The acting is good and it leaves a lasting effect on you and you question the mentality of people who are turned on by such things. In fact I highly doubt that such people exist, it's just an exaggerated form of sado-masochism. The film was banned and then released uncut due to it's controversy, but it didn't disgust or offend me - it just baffled me. It's hard to descibe anything out of the film without being too graphic, but an example of what you can expect from this film is where Spader has a woman in the back seat, but decides it'll be more fun if he enters her through a scar in her leg from a crash. If what you have read here intrigues you then go and see it, but if you are repulsed then don't see it. It's as simple as that really.
