Dante's Peak is a lovely mountain town, and has just been named the "second best place to live in America". Accepting this award is the major (Hamilton), who meets Harry (Brosnan) a little later on. Now Harry is in the town just doing some investigating since he works for the US Geological Society. But what he doesn't expect is to find bodies in boiling hot springs, too many dead trees for the Summer, and all other strange goings on you'd expect from such a film. It turns out that Dante's Peak is going to blow, but no one belives him. It is up to Brosnan to convince everyone, including the major (his love interest in the film), that they have to evacuate the town before there are any more casulaties.

Although you will probably seen all of this before in one way or another, it is still a good film. All the action that you would expect has been nicely put together in a fairly enjoyable movie. The action comes thick and faster, without being too violent, and is basically just what you'd expect for a film of the action/disaster genre. Although better than it's competitor Volcano, but not by much, there are still flaws and silly moments. I don't want to cite examples as that'll probably ruin it, but there are laughable moments, although a film of this nature is not meant to be taken completely seriously anyway. There's a lot of action, a few dead bodies, but basically another way of telling the same story. Recommended to anyone who likes a good disaster film.
