Kit Latura (Stallone) is a disgraced Emergency Medical Services worker, but is recalled back to action when there is a huge explosion that blocks a tunnel full of people. Only a few survive, and they have to try and escape the tunnel while loads more explosions and floods and falling walls get in their way. And it's up to Stallone to save the day. He manages to get into the blocked up tunnel, but getting the remaining survivors out proves to be more difficult.
This is nothing new, but provides a little bit of light entertainment. Although there are explosions and deaths, this is not a violent film so the whole family can enjoy. It follows the same formula of most disaster films where all the supporting cast are killed and it's left to the hero to save the rest. A flaw is that there's some pretty hollow acting from most of the cast, a lot of sentimental mush, and some very basic dialogue. However, Stallone makes what would be a waste of time into a watchable movie, plus some good special effects make this a simple but effective film. It would help if you're already a fan of the genre, but this is a fairly enjoyable film for anyone.
