Empire Records is a record shop in which the main part of this film is set. The staff is mainly made up of teenagers who just want to have fun. The main storyline is that a marger company, Music Chain, will buy Empire out unless they can come up with a load of money. In an attempt to save the business, staff member Lucas steals the savings and tries to double it (successfully), and then treble it (unsuccessfully) by gambling. Everyone has to work together and come up with a way of getting the money to save their beloved shop, with plenty more problems in the way.

This is a watchable film, but I didn't find too much of it funny. There are some good scenes, some good looking girls, and some enjoyable music; but that doesn't make it a good film. I think this film is obviously aimed at teenagers, using the "good music + sex appeal" formula I mentioned earlier. A few scenes make it unsuitable for a young audience, and older people will just find it boring.
