The Event Horizon was a ship that disappeared for seven years, and has just reappeared with no one having a clue as to where it's been. That's why the Lewis & Clark is sent off to Neptune to discover where the Horizon has been. The crew includes Dr. William Weir (Neill) who built the Horizon, and Captain Miller (Fishburne). On their way Neill explains what's so special about his ship, and that is that it can 'bend' time by creating a black hole so it can travel from dimensions of space and time as if it is faster than light. Our crew then check out the Horizon and there are some horrifying discoveries that have them all fearing for their lives...
If a little slow to get going (mainly because the film is explaining what's going on and what we should expect), this is a well made sci-fi suspense horror. There are some violent scenes that reminded me of Hellraiser, so little kids or the faint hearted should give this a miss. Personally I enjoyed this film, and if you want to really feel the effect then watch it on your own. Although you may find yourself frustrated at some parts of the film when there is no action, the next scene will have you on the edge of your seat.
